In addition to the concert recording, this DVD contains documentary footage, interviews, and other bonus material, and is the only available DVD of the Gurrelieder.

This classical music performance release finds Latvian maestro Mariss Jansons leading the Chor und Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, in an interpretation of Arnold Schönberg's Gurre-Lieder for soloists, narrator, choruses and orchestra. Vocalists include soprano Deborah Voigt, mezzo-soprano Mihoko Fujimura, tenors Stig Andersen and Herwig Pecoraro, and baritone Michael Volle, with added support by the NDR Chor and MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig.
